E-books, electronic books can be read on the computer screen. They come in many forms: as web pages; in a PDF format; or in a format that call for a special reader program.
As a student or employee at SLU you have access to both licensed and free e-books.
They are made available in a common portal (Samsök), see link below.
To have off campus access to the resources, see off campus access to databases and e-journals.
Ebrary is the SLU Libraries main supplier of e-books, with more than 44.000 titles.
The books are mainly for on screen reading, you may only print 5 pages at a time, and a maximum of 60 pages per session.
You may set up a personal book shelf, highlight text in books, etc. In the Ebrary Unity Reader there is a text-to-speech option.
CAB eBooks - chapters from over 200 edited books as printable PDF files
CAB eBooks (2005–) contains over 200 edited books within the SLU's topics.
The individual chapter contributions are separately searchable, and can be printed without limitations.
Apart from Ebrary the SLU Libraries have some hundred selected titles from the publishers Springer, Wiley and Knovel.
In Samsök
you find a list of all the suppliers. The books below all come in PDF-format.
Google Book Search is primarily a search service and not a collection of e-books,
but the books are mostly available in an electronic format.
Google Book Search contains more than 7 million books from more than 20.000 publishers.
Sometimes you can view the book as a whole, while in other cases you may view only a few pages.
You search for the books with Google syntax, and you get a search hit if the search words are on the same page in a book.
Search example:
"pinus sylvestris" OR "scots pine" production OR yields sweden
